While Shadow Rend is the primary skill used, most of your damage actually comes from Last Epoch gold Shadow Cascade, which is triggered repeatedly through your shadows.

The gameplay loop is simple on the surface, but requires proper setup to function smoothly. You deploy Smoke Bomb, remain inside its area, and continuously spam Shadow Rend. Staying within Smoke Bomb is crucial because it significantly reduces mana costs and provides additional buffs. As shadows accumulate, they trigger cascades that both deal massive damage and restore mana, allowing you to maintain constant uptime.

Despite feeling like a one-button build during gameplay, the underlying mechanics are quite delicate. Missing key nodes or failing to prioritize the correct stats can cause the build to fall apart entirely.

Mana Sustain Through Shadows

Mana management is the backbone of this build. Shadow Rend normally has a high mana cost, but when used inside Smoke Bomb, the cost is heavily reduced. This alone is not enough-you also rely on Shadow Cascade interactions to sustain mana.

The key mechanic comes from scaling the number of active shadows. With multiple shadows active at once, each Shadow Cascade returns mana per shadow, effectively turning your shadow army into a resource engine. The more shadows you have, the more sustainable your gameplay becomes.
